Local Conservatives from South Ayrshire including our Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock Lee Lyons joined the renowned author and former Conservative speechwriter Lord Dobbs for a door-to-door canvassing session ahead of September's big referendum.
Lord Michael Dobbs, who served as an advisor to Margaret Thatcher when she was in opposition, acted as a speechwriter and Chief of Staff for the Conservative Party. He was made Deputy Chairman of the Party under Sir John Major. However, Lord Dobbs is also known for his writing work, authoring the House of Cards trilogy and acts as an Executive Producer on the American version of the programme.
Michael feels very passionately about the Union and decended upon Glasgow to speak to voters. He was joined by Glasgow Councillor David Meikle, West of Scotland Chairman Richard Wilkinson, West of Scotland Campaign Manager Martyn McIntyre and several members of the South Ayrshire Association including PPC Lee Lyons, his wife Linda, Association Deputy Chairman Gavin Scott and Association Manager Dan McCroskrie.
On the day, 70% of respondents were planning to vote "No" with 25% backing "Yes" and 5% undecided.
