Conservative Euro-hopeful Dr Ian Duncan was in Ayr and Prestwick on Monday to meet with representatives of the NATS air traffic control centre at Prestwick. Accompanying Dr Duncan was local MSP John Scott.
Commenting on the visit, Dr Duncan stated: ‘The facilities at Prestwick are remarkable. It is hard to believe that almost every flight over the Atlantic or over British airspace or into a British airport is guided at least in part by the staff at Prestwick. With a safety record second to none, NATS represents an important factor in the security and wellbeing of air travellers, and all undertaken from a state of the art facility just behind Prestwick airport.
John Scott MSP added, ‘NATS is an asset to Prestwick, a major employer, an organisation that attracts the brightest and the best to our area. I was pleased that Ian Duncan was able to come down to Prestwick and see just how important NATS is to the area, but also, importantly to the safety of those who fly.
