Local business owners have been in touch with us to express their concerns about the Scottish Government's Coronavirus grant funding scheme.
In England and Wales, businesses are entitled to grant funding of £25,000 for each qualifying property. In Scotland, this funding has only been made available to businesses as a standalone payment, regardless of how many properties they operate in.
There are fears that a lack of support from the Scottish Government could result in job losses and businesses having to close down in South Ayrshire.
We ask that business owners direct their concerns by email to Scotland's Finance Secretary, Kate Forbes.
We would also encourage you to sign this petition on charge.org calling for the Scottish Government to provide the same level of funding available for businesses operating elsewhere in the UK as they promised to do: https://www.change.org/p/kate-forbes-scottish-jobs-and-businesses-deserve-the-same-coronavirus-support-as-the-rest-of-the-uk?
Please remember to stay at home and save lives.
